How to distinguish the grades of coke

1. Different uses.

Metallurgical coke (also called metallurgical coke) is mainly used for blast furnace ironmaking and blast furnace smelting of non-ferrous metals such as copper, lead, zinc, titanium, antimony, and mercury, and acts as a reducing agent, heating agent, and material column skeleton.

Chemical coke (also called chemical coke) is mainly used for chemical gasification gasification.

2. Different quality requirements.

Metallurgical coke must have appropriate chemical and physical properties, including thermal properties during the smelting process.

Chemical gasification coke does not have strict strength requirements, but requires good reactivity and a high ash melting point; 3. Different requirements for porosity indicators.

Generally, the porosity of metallurgical coke is required to be 40-45%; the porosity of chemical coke is required to be around 30%.

Metallurgical coke has high porosity and low strength; chemical coke has low porosity and high strength.

1. Metallurgical coke is a general term for blast furnace coke, foundry coke, ferroalloy coke, and coke for non-ferrous metal smelting. Since more than 90% of metallurgical coke is used for blast furnace ironmaking, blast furnace coke is often called metallurgical coke.

Physical properties of coke include coke screening composition, coke bulk density, coke true relative density, coke apparent relative density, coke porosity, coke specific heat capacity, coke thermal conductivity, coke thermal stress, coke ignition temperature, coke thermal expansion coefficient, coke shrinkage, coke resistivity and coke permeability.

3. Porosity is the percentage of coke pore volume to total volume, which affects the reactivity and strength of coke.
